Certified Courses

The following courses are available to those interested in learning and teaching the strategies and methods of Study Technology. The courses are arranged here in order of introduction and learning level. All courses are available at the Applied Scholastics International Training Center in St. Louis, MO. Certain courses are available at Continental Offices and Study Technology Centers. Some basic courses are available as Correspondence Courses.

Each course is associated with a book or manual. Many will earn college credits and these are noted below. Successful completion of all courses earns a certificate of achievement. Some basic courses are prerequisites for advanced courses.


Learning How to Learn
based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard

Introduces the younger student to the three barriers to study, how to recognize them and what to do to handle them. It is also an appropriate tool that can be used as an initial instruction program for teachers, tutors and parents in the use and implementation of Study Technology.

How to Use a Dictionary
based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard

This course provides students with the means to get the most out of their education. Students learn everything from finding words quickly to understanding the symbols in dictionaries. It opens doors for those who would otherwise be unable to understand even the simplest of terms.

Correspondence Course.

Grammar and Communication
based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard

This course utilizes simple text and clear explanations to provide students with the basics in grammar, spoken communication and written communication. Its clarity is key in preventing students from developing an all too common distaste for the subject. It helps students clarify grammar with the purpose of improving their ability to communicate in speech and in writing.

Study Skills for Life
based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard

This course provides further education in Study Technology. It gives students the tools to use what they've learned in life -- as the title states, it provides students with tools they can actually use in their lives.

Correspondence Course.

Basic Study Manual
based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard

This course provides a more comprehensive education in Study Technology than the other basic study books. It can be studied by middle and high school students and adults to improve their ability to use what they study, and also professionals to improve their competence in the workplace.

Communicating is Fun
based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard

This course helps children feel confident in life. The world is open to a child who knows how to communicate well. This covers everything from overcoming shyness and being able to communicate with anyone to handling others with understanding and being fully understood.

Study Tools for Educators
based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard

This course provides educators a more in-depth understanding of the technology of study, along with the tools for making the teaching and learning of any subject more efficient and effective. There is a gap that exists between teaching and comprehension. This course enables teachers to easily bridge that gap. Included is a checklist to develop lesson plans. The result an educator who can get his subjects understood. .

Advanced Study Tools for Educators

This course is to be done upon completion of the Study Tools for Educators course. It provides an educator with tools to enhance the learning of students, including how to identify and handle barriers to study, how to verify that knowledge has been gained instead of data memorized and how to increase comprehension.

Fundamentals of Instruction

The educator will learn how to use teaching and supervising strategies as well as communication skills in managing the learning process of others, whether children or adults, and how to more effective lead a classroom with self-paced or seminar-style learning. Under supervision, the educator will practice these skills in a classroom environment and then do a trainer apprenticeship until all necessary skills are mastered. .

This course provides educators with specific tools to increase the students' ability to understand and apply what he/she is learning. It provides an educator with remedies to non-comprehension, slow students and tools for keeping a student interested and engaged. It is based on the Study Skills For Life book that teaches the basics of Study Technology.
